Labor Day honors the working people of the United States and Canada, but today I want to especially pay homage to you – the hard-working auto repair shop owner.
When you took on the role of being a shop owner, you took on an enormous responsibility that 99%+ of the general population would never have the guts to take on. You not only took on the role of providing for your own family, but whether you know it or not, you also took on the role of helping provide for the families of all you employ.
Rather than opting for the safety and security of an 8-5 job and the guaranteed paycheck that comes with it, you’re the first one at the shop in the morning and the last one to leave at night. When the employees are relaxing at home sipping on a beer; you’re still at the shop doing the paperwork. You work weekends. And far too often, you struggle through more than your fair share of sleepless nights, worrying about your business.
All for what? For the ‘opportunity’ to be paid whatever is left over after your employees, suppliers, rent, and all the rest of the bills have been paid.
That takes guts my friend. Congratulations for taking on the challenge.
Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this amazing community of shop owners. Happy Labor Day!
