Car Count Daily
What is it that you’re surrounding yourself every morning on your way to the shop? Are you listening to something that’s going to uplift your day? Are you listening to something that’s going to just drain the life out of you as in the morning news. You have the ability to turn your car into a university on wheels.
Look, you don’t need to know the negative news from last night. You don’t need to know what the dredges of society have done while you were sleeping. You don’t need to hear the political talk. You don’t need to hear any of that stuff. The best thing you could possibly do in the morning is listen to something positive. Whether you go down to the library, and yes, there are still libraries. Remember that library card we used to have? You can go into the library, and you can check out (depending on the age of the car) cassettes in there. You can find CDs of some motivational speakers.
People that are going to keep you uplifted a little bit, or download some audios or some videos. Whatever it is, you don’t want to obviously be watching video when you’re driving. It’s hard enough for me to drive and occasionally look over at the camera here. But just fill your brain with some really good positive things. Depending on your drive, if you’ve got, let’s say, a 15 minute drive, that’s basically an hour and a quarter every single week that is unproductive time. That you may be filling your mind with a lot of crap, that you could be learning something.
I think Zig Ziegler called driving in the car an university on wheels. I think that’s really important that you start to embrace listening to something and staying away from the negative stuff. Especially in the morning because that’s going to set the tone for the rest of your day. I thought I’d just shoot this really quick video on my way in, just remind you of that, because I listen to CDs, on my phone I listen to & have a service called Audible, and I download business books. I download motivation books. I download lots of really, really good books, and I listen to them on my way into the office.
I don’t listen to the radio. Occasionally, I’ll listen to some sports and see what’s really happening on that front, on the sports talk radios. But when they go do their little spiel on the news and what’s bad happening out there, I obviously turn it off. Download Audible. Start listening to some really good books. I’d love to hear what it is that you’re doing on the way to the office that’s keeping you motivated and moving forward.
