Car Count Daily | Edition #68
Hi, shop owners. Welcome to this edition of Car Count Daily. My name’s Ron Ipach, but you can call me Captain Car Count, because that’s all I’ve done for the past 20 years is help thousands of auto repair shop owners, just like you, to get and then keep all the top-quality customers that your shop can handle.
Well for those friends of mine in the United States, I really hope you enjoyed yesterday’s Fourth of July celebration. If you had a chance to check your email, I hope you really enjoyed that special video that I sent to you for yesterday. Now, took a little bit of a break yesterday from the usual learning videos and instruction because, look, it’s a little bit of a celebration and chance to do something a little bit different.
Yesterday’s video, if you didn’t see it, is extremely funny. I’ve probably seen it probably five, six times, and tears are still rolling down my face after watching it. I think it’s extremely entertaining, and I hope you did too. Now, if you didn’t get a chance to see it, make sure you check your email and go watch the video on the stinky fish challenge. Now, what is the stinky fish challenge? Well, you’ll have to go look at the video.
The reason why I sent it to you is for two reasons.
One, to kind of take a break from my instructional videos, and the other, was to show you what video can actually do for your business. It doesn’t have to be all about business. When you look at that video, you’ll notice that the gentleman and the family, they’re in the insurance business. They specifically have a Farmers Insurance, I guess, franchise or license for their area. If you notice on his shirt, it says, “Call me for a quote,” and it has his phone number on there. If you notice, his kids and his wife are all decked out in Farmers Insurance T-shirts.
Now, the other reason is for what this did for him… I don’t know if you noticed, but there are over 24 million views of that video. It’s a cute video. It’s a funny video, but from a business standpoint, it also is a very humanizing video as well. I can guarantee you that guy is a local celebrity in his area because so many people have seen that. Now he’s not a businessman. Now he’s just a dad having fun with his kids. There’s that human element that people like to see in videos. That’s why I don’t do a whole lot of edits to these videos is why… If I screw up a word or two, I just let it go because, look, we all mess up our own words.
When you’re creating videos and using videos like this for your business, understand it’s to inform, and it’s also to humanize and let people know that you’re just like them. Okay? If you didn’t get a chance to watch that video, go watch it. Watch it again. Fair warning, if you haven’t watched it already, you may want to have a few tissues there because if you’re like me, you’ll be crying by the end. Okay? Because it is extremely funny. But not saying you have to find a video that’s going to go viral like he did. I’m just talking about just being human, just being regular. You don’t have to be above anybody else. You got to be just like them and let your personality shine when you use these videos.
