Welcome to Car Count Daily. Now, today we’re going to talk all about being a star shop owner. Before you think that’s a good thing, let me show you what I mean about being a star shop owner, specifically when it comes to your marketing. Trust me, you don’t want to be a star shop owner.
I’m going to illustrate what I mean by this. Let’s say you have the need for car count. Certainly, that’s probably the reason why you’re visiting this page, is because you have a need more car count. You come up with an idea, let’s say, to send out a text message to your clients to invite them to your auto repair shop. You start in that direction. You’re trying to figure out what to do, what to do. All of a sudden, it gets a little frustrating. You’re thinking, “This just isn’t working out.” Or, maybe you get distracted. You get pulled in all these different directions. Maybe a customer walks in the door or the phone rings or something happens and you stop. This line represents all those unfinished things that we get started with the best intentions, but we never get around to finishing.
That’s all the further you’ve got with that idea. It’s unfinished. It’s not working for you. It’s an idea. It’s a great idea. If you’d be able to finish it, you’d probably reap the rewards of it, but it’s yet another unfinished project. Now, you realize maybe a few days or sometimes a few weeks later, you look and say, “The business is down. I really, really this time, I’ve got to work on my marketing. I’ve got to get something in place to get people in the door.” You decide, “Well, I’ll send out a postcard to everybody that has been in my shop before.” You contact the printer. You start coming up with a good postcard idea, an offer. You only get so far and all of a sudden, you get distracted again. You know, the stuff hits the fan at the shop, or you’re a little frustrated trying to pull a database of your customers. Again, you know where I’m going with this. You only go so far and you never complete the task. It’s not bringing customers in.
Then again, another few weeks go by. Now, you’re frustrated. Now you’re thinking, “This darn marketing. I’ve got to get something going because I need more people in the shop.” Again, you start on another direction to get more people into the shop. It stops again. You still don’t finish the task. Okay. I know some of you know exactly what I’m talking about. You know what? If we would finish these tasks, if we’d get them all done, we’d have all the cars that we could possibly handle because we have a lot of marketing strategies in place to bring customers to our shop, but yet, we stop again before we actually finish it.
Then again, a few weeks go by. You see what’s happening. You head in a totally different direction. Remember this line right there was to send our a text message. This was to send out a direct mail piece. This was yet something else. Again, another idea. There’s 1,001 ideas to get marketing and get people into your shop, but if they’re unfinished and you keep heading in all these different directions and never finishing the task, what happens? Pretty soon you try everything and you’re right back to where you started. This is what I’m talking about, about being a star shop owner. You don’t want to be a star shop owner.
What you want to do is you want to start completing the tasks. When you have a good idea that’s going to work, that’s going to bring people into your shop, stick with it all the way to the end, to the point where it starts giving you those results. Sometimes we stop because we don’t see the results we’re looking for right away. We didn’t give it enough time. We didn’t make whatever necessary changes we needed to get that idea working for us, so we stop and head yet another direction. Pretty soon, you’ve zig zagged all over the place and you’re every bit back to where you started right here, still needing car count.
That’s what I’m here to help you with. I’m here to give you some great ideas, but the ideas are only going to help you so far. You have to take those, run them to completion and that’s how you get the results.
